Hi Everyone!
I hope this holiday season has a been a fun one for you all so far!
I think it goes unsaid that we're all pretty much some of the most
fortunate folks on the planet. Not only do we get to enjoy the freaky
lifestyles that we do, but on a more basic level we all have
everything we need to live. Most importantly we all have access to
food and nourishment on a daily basis. Yet there are many - too many
- people among us for whom daily food is not a given, but is a bonus.
In SF alone nearly 20% of the population is in danger of going hungry
everyday. For children in the city this number is even higher: 25%
During the **first two nights** of NYE Run there will be barrels to
collect food for the SF Food Bank inside The Independent. We'll be
collecting non-perishable items that will eventually make their way to
the more than 17,000 families in San Francisco who would otherwise not
have enough food. The food collected by the Food Bank during their
Holiday Drives makes up more than 60% of the food they need to help
those in need all year
round.
As we celebrate our way through the holiday season, please take a
small bit of time to participate in the drive and help out those less
fortunate than ourselves by donating some of the following:
canned vegetables
canned fruit
tuna
canned meats
soups, stews and chili
peanut butter
cereal
no glass containers, please
Take it easy everyone, and see you all in a few short weeks!
Mike
