Re: a cover song request
Tue, September 11, 2007 - 8:50 AMDoes anyone remember 'Baker Street' by Gerry Rafferty?
I keep thinking that Dan Lebowitz could do a solo where the trumpet/sax solo is......the band doesn't know this song. i just noticed that the Foo Fighters did a cover of Baker Street. This is a song where you know the sound of it, you just don't know the name of the artist who wrote it.
i also enjoy the Huey Lewis 'Back in Time' tune when it is sandwiched in between Time is of the Essence. ALO has played this before and it sounds great. -

Tue, September 11, 2007 - 11:30 AMHuey Lewis and The News was my first concert....scarey, but I was thrilled. My favorite movie was Back to the Future at the time...

Tue, September 11, 2007 - 2:54 PMHuey Lewis and the News was the last concert Bil Graham ever saw. His helicopter crashed after leaving the show. I wonder if the finished the show with Back in Time that night...eerily ironic, no? -

Re: a cover song request
Wed, September 12, 2007 - 11:12 AMThere are some 80s covers I've always wanted to hear.
Butter is currently doing a tune that I consider an anthem for our generation: I Want A New Drug. That tune really rings true and has a timeless message: There is no perfect drug - except for love. (And surfing, but that's another story)
I Want A New Drug is almost the exact same song as Ghostbusters. Those two would make a great medley.
I've also long wanted to hear a band cover My Angel Is The Centerfold by J Giles Band. It's just really campy. Though of all the J Giles Band tunes out there, ALO would probably do a rockin' version of Musta Got Lost.
I ain't afraid o' no ghost,

Hence, Huey's lawsuit that forced them to change the Ghostbusters theme.
> a timeless message: There is no perfect drug - except for love
Love is bad, m'kay. You shouldn't fall in love. Because it's bad. M'kay.
> (And surfing, but that's another story)
Surfing's bad, m'kay. You shouldn't surf. Because it's bad. M'kay.

Re: a cover song request
Mon, October 8, 2007 - 7:57 PMi'd like to hear Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty from the late 70's.
The Foo Fighters covered it not so long ago and I know ALO could do a much better vibe.
It sounds a lot like Steely Dan and Lebowitz could solo over the sax part. The solo is off the hook, you can google this guy and hear the song on the internet. it's a 'one hit wonder' and reminds me of growing up in the '70's.
It would be so sickle. -

Re: a cover song request
Sun, March 23, 2008 - 10:40 PMI'd LOVE to hear them cover "Ocean Breeze" by Pablo Cruise. Would be a fantasy come true to hear that song live.
I'd likely go a bit crazy in a good way if they covered "Love is Alive" by Gary Wright. Would be fun.
By the way, Roses and Clover has been residing in my vehicle player as if it's taken out a year's lease in there.
